How to compare model prices

Providers charge separately for the tokens you send (input) and the tokens a model writes (output). The blended row weights them 3 to 1, a typical mix for chat and retrieval; agents and long answers shift the mix towards output. Cached input applies when you resend the same prompt prefix, and a batch discount when results can wait for hours.

The cheapest price per token isn’t always the cheapest bill: a model that needs more steps or retries costs more per finished task. Use the monthly cost with your own numbers, then test the two or three cheapest candidates on your own prompts. For more than four models, the token cost calculator ranks any number on the same traffic.
